T.J. Cloutier is truly a living legend. If in a circle of poker players, and the question is asked, “Who are the greatest living players today?” T.J.’s name would surely come up. He’s been around the block and has the millions to show for it.
Hailing from Daly City, CA, T.J. was an outstanding athlete who attended the University of California-Berkeley on a football and baseball athletic scholarship. He chose to leave school to help his father work and make money due to his mother taking ill. He was drafted to service in the United States Army, and began working his poker skills into a fine craft against his fellow soldiers.
After playing professional football in Canada, owning a business in the food/grocer industry, and working an oil rig in Texas, T.J. Cloutier moved to play poker full-time. After all, he was making more with his skills at the table than he was with his “regular” job.
He has six World Series of Poker bracelets to his name, and victories in over 50 major tournaments. However, he’s yet to take the top prize in the World Series championship event. He’s come incredibly close on several occasions, including runner-up – twice. His live tournament winnings top the $5.5 million mark, and he’s nowhere near retirement.
T.J. lives with his wife Joy in Richardson, TX, and is the father to six children. He is an author, a syndicated columnist, and has endorsed the computer game/training program, World Class Poker with T.J. Cloutier. And he keeps his friends and fans notified of his action through his website: tjcloutier.com.
