Event #2
$260 + $40
Ladies No Limit Hold'em
The 2006 World Poker Finals attracted a record 394 enthusiastic players for
the "Ladies Only" $300 No-Limit Hold'em Championship. The prize pool of
$101,307 was divided among the top 30 contestants and Lisa Strippoli of
Lindenhurst, NY, claimed the First Place Prize of $34,293! In addition to the
cash prize, Lisa was awarded a championship trophy and a commemorative
leather jacket.

The cards were in the air on the final table a little after 4 pm and within a few
minutes Elaine Saarinen of Norwood, NY, called Stacey Kilcullen's all-in. Elaine
had pocket 10's but Stacey had pocket J's and without help from the board,
Elaine had 10th place and $1,570.

A short time later, Heather Tritch called Paige Walsh's all-in with pocket 9's.
Paige's A-Q was a winner with a Q on the flop and an A on the turn. Heather
was left with $1000 in chips and the next hand she took 9th place money of
$2,026 home to Waynesburg, PA.

Pocket 9's were also not kind to Geraldine Steinmetz, a resident of Warwick,
RI. She was all-in and Paige again was the caller. Paige had A-10 and with an
A on the turn, Geraldine was relegated to 8th position with $2,533.

With the blinds about to go up, Kelly Doyle, the final table short stack, was
all-in. She paired a 10 on the turn but Cheryl Macinanti paired a Q and Kelly,
who hails from Hyde Park, NY, took 7th place money of $3,039.

It would be another hour before the next major confrontation. Once again
Paige was the one to do damage. Stacey Kilcullen of Matawan, NJ, made a
huge all-in bet and Paige, who barely had the bet covered, took considerable
time before making the call. Stacey turned over A-K and Paige had A-Q. When
a Q came on the turn, Stacey was in 6th position with $3,546.

Paula Damico was not as lucky as Paige with A-Q. She was ahead of Lily
Elviro's KJ until two J's came on the flop and a K on the turn. Paula had earlier
lost another large pot with pocket Q's when Lisa caught an all-in flush on the
turn with J-8. Paula finished 5th and took $4,558 home to South Salem, NY.

Lisa again caught a flush in three way action with Lily Elviro and Cheryl
Macinanti of Billerica, MA. Lily lost a substantial part of her stack and Cheryl
had to settle for 4th place and $6,079. Lily was down to the felt and took a
stand with Kc-Jc but Lisa once again caught a heart flush on the river and Lily
was the winner of $9,624 for 3rd place.

Paige Walsh, a resident of Sauderstown, RI, was at a severe chip
disadvantage and decided to go all-in with A-Q. The hand was not as kind to
her as earlier in the night as Lisa paired her K on the flop and her 3 on the
turn. Paige could take solace with 2nd place money of $17,222.

The night now belonged to Lisa Strippoli who was crowned the Ladies'
Champion of the World Poker Finals for 2006!
