Choosing an Online Poker Room based on
their Bonus Policy
May 10, 2006

by Tom Sangenito

There are many online poker rooms that offer some great bonuses which you
can choose from. I have a few online poker rooms that are my favorites and
that I feel have the best Bonus Policies and the best bonuses. I will provide
the details to help you to pick the poker room that suits you best. Some
online poker rooms are geared towards the lower limit poker player while
other are for the more experienced, higher limit poker players. There are
many factors to look at when deciding which online poker room you would
like to play at. Does their Bonus policy favor a lower limit player or a high limit
player? Are the players generally loose or tight? What games do they offer
and at what limits? These are just a few of the questions you should be
asking yourself when deciding which online poker room to play at. I will focus
on the Bonus Policies as a factor to choose which online poker room you
would like to play at.

Let’s take a look at the Bonus policies of some of my favorite online poker
rooms.

Full Tilt Poker - They offer a 100% Initial Deposit Bonus for New Players of
up to $600. New players will receive a 100% matching bonus up to $600 on
your initial deposit to Full Tilt Poker. You will be required to earn a minimum of
Full Tilt Points that you accumulate to receive your bonus in your cash
account.

Playing at cash ring games, for every dollar raked from a pot, every player
who was dealt cards for that hand will earn one point. If less than one dollar
is raked, you can earn partial points. You can earn up to 3 points per hand.
Each point is worth $.06, so you can earn up to $18 per hundred hands.

Playing in tournaments and sit and go’s, for every dollar paid in tournament
entry fees you will receive 7 Full Tilt Points. There is no maximum limit on the
number of points you can receive.

The Bonus amount will be automatically credited to your Bonus Account
where it will be held and released to your cash account in increments of 10%
of your initial deposit, or $20, whichever you earn first. So, for example, if you
do a one-time deposit of $100, each 10% ($10) earned will be released to
your cash account. Deposit the full $600 and your cash account will be
credited for every $20 of bonus you earn.

At three points per hand, each $20 increment can be earned in fewer than
two hours of play at only one table. Full Tilt Poker has one of the best Bonus
policies in the industry. Points are earned at a quick rate and you cash
account will be automatically credited when your bonus amount is earned.
You will continue to have your cash account credited until you earned 100%
of your bonus money. Full Tilt Poker gives you 120 days to earn your deposit
bonus.

Full Tilt Poker also offers entries into special points tournaments and
redemption for Full Tilt Poker merchandise including jerseys, shirts, hats and
more.

Poker.com - At Poker.com, when you make your first deposit, you will earn a
100% Bonus of up to $100. You will also receive an entry into $500 Daily
Initial Depositors Freeroll for 7 days. Like most online poker rooms,Poker.com’
s current Bonus offer has some play requirements.

You will be paid $1 of your Bonus for every 200 comp points you earn. For
each 200 comp points you earn, $10 of your bonus will be paid to your cash
account. For example, if you deposit $100 you will receive $10 of your Bonus
automatically every time you accumulate 2000 comp points. This will happen
9 additional times until the entire $100 Bonus is paid. Now, I know you’re
probably thinking, 2000 comp points, that’s a lot of points isn’t it? Well, not
really. Poker.com’s point system is comparable to the industry standard. They
just have a different system of how you earn your points and the number of
points you earn.

At Poker.com, comp points will be earned for playing eligible tournaments and
real money ring games. You will have an entire 90 days to complete the
bonus.

Tournaments award a fixed comp point amount. The amount is shown on the
tournament details screen when you register.

Real money Ring Games award comp points in blocks for every 15 consecutive
hands played. You will earn a block of comp points based on the limit game
you are playing. Comp points are not earned for heads up (2 player max.)
ring games.

You will earn 3 points per hand for a total of 45 points per ring game block for
the following games:

Limit games - $0.25/$0.50 and $0.50/$1

Pot Limit games - $0.10/$0.25 and $0.25/$0.50

No Limit games - $0.10/$0.25 and $0.25/$0.50

You will earn 5 points per hand for a total of 75 points per ring game block for
the following games:

Limit games - $1/$2 and $2/$4

Pot Limit games - $0.50/$1, $1/$2 and $2/$4

No Limit games - $0.50/$1, $1/$2, and $2/$4

You will earn 10 points per hand for a total of 150 points per ring game block
for the following games:

Limit games - $4/$8, $5/$10, $10/$20, $15/$30, $30/$60, and $50/$100

Pot Limit games - $5/$10, $10/$20, and $25/$50

No Limit games - $5/$10, $10/$20, and $25/$50

Poker.com also uses comp points for reload bonuses, and freeroll tournament
coupons. Running totals are used to evaluate eligibility for exclusive offers
and special player’s clubs.

Titan Poker - When you make a first time deposit you will receive a 100%
Match Bonus of up to $500. The First Deposit Sign up Bonus is released to
you as you earn Titan Poker Points at Ring Games and Tournaments. For
Tournaments, 20 Points are earned for every $1 in tournament entry fees
paid. In Ring Games, points are awarded to you for each hand in which you
participate in, as long as the hand is raked. It does not matter whether you
contributed to the pot by placing a blind or bet, or whether you folded. You
will have 90 days to accumulate the required points entitling you to your First
Deposit Signup Bonus.

Your Bonus will be released automatically to your cash account according to
the number of points you have earned. For each 400 points a player earns, a
$5 bonus will be issued to your cash account.

You will earn 1 point for each participating hand with a rake of $0.25 to $0.50.

You will earn 2.5 points for each participating hand with a rake of $0.51 to
$1.00.

You will earn 5 points for each participating hand with a rake of $1.01 to
$1.50.

You will earn 8 points for each participating hand with a rake of $1.51 to
$2.00.

You will earn 11 points for each participating hand with a rake of $2.01 and
up.

Notes: Titan Poker has a VIP Club which reward their loyal and dedicated
poker players. Players with VIP Level 2, Level 3, Level 4 and Level 5 earn
points faster than the information listed above. In addition, the 100% First
Deposit Signup Bonus is an exclusive offer only available through the Titan
Poker links provided in this article. The normal Bonus is 50% up to $200.

I have provided a detailed list of Bonus Policies and points systems for three
of my favorite online poker rooms. You can now use this information to make
an informed decision about which online poker room you would like to play at.
I hope this information will help you to choose the right online poker room for
your style of play. Make your first deposit today, and start earning points and
your bonus while you play the game you love. Good luck at the tables.
