Independent Staff Review
Overall Staff Rating: 8.0
Bodog began operations as a Sports Book and Casino. They opened their
poker room in September of 2004. Although it is a newer poker room, Bodog
is one of the hottest online poker rooms. Bodog is also one of the fastest
growing online poker rooms.
The game variety at Bodog Poker is quite good. Most players are at small
stakes No Limit Hold'em games. There is a decent amount of player traffic at
the mid level stakes also.
Bodog has a decent amount of player traffic for a newer online poker room.
There are approximately 3,500 real money players in ring games, the majority
of the players are at No Limit Hold'me games. Tournament traffic statistics are
good with about 9,000 real money players during peak periods.
The competition is rather soft at Bodog. There is a good potential for profit in
the No Limit micro limit games. There are some very loose players on Bodog,
so if you are an above average player, you can probably do very well at
Bodog.

Beginner Tournaments
As a new player to poker, you may often hear from more experienced players
that you have to pay for your poker education; as it is through gaining
experience playing that you will become a seasoned and successful player.
A typical poker tournament will pay somewhere around the top 8% to 15% of
finishers - meaning that when playing in these tournaments, you must
outlast 92% to 85% of your opponents. For a beginner player looking to
enjoy the excitement of tournament poker this can, at times, be a daunting
task to make the money (along with a steady bleed on the poker bankroll).
By playing in their Beginner Tournaments, you have up to twice the chance
to make it into the money when comparing the number of payouts to a typical
tournament. With the prize structure of these events, up to twice as many
players are paid - so you will make the money more frequently thus
preserving your poker bankroll as you learn the game.

Software and Playability
Bodog has some really nice software. They have features which include
player notes and multi table play. You can play up to 3 different tables using
only one open window screen. They have a separate windows for game play
and chat.
The player competition at Bodog is quite weak. Many players are what we
consider to be "gamblers". They will often call with the worst hand. There is a
great potential for profit at Bodog.
Features
- Picture in Picture - Bodog Picture in Picture allows you to observe and
play at three tables simultaneously from your main gameplay view.
- Bodog Dashboard - Seat yourself in the center of the action. The new
Bodog Dashboard immerses you in the playing experience with a bird's-
eye view of the table. All of your key betting and account tools are
conveniently organized in this area. When you choose your seat at a
table, you'll see the table rotate to position you at the central area.
- At-Table Tournament Info Panel - Bodog Table Tournament Info Panel
eliminates the need to toggle back to the Tournament Lobby when
playing in multi-table tournaments. Keep an eye on the blind levels,
player rankings - not to mention your opponent's chip stacks - all
within your main gameplay view.
- Folded Hand Display - wonder, what if? With Bodog Poker's Folded
Hand Display, you now have the option to continue to view your pocket
cards after folding. This feature allows players to see what hand they
could have played if they had stayed in.
- Separate Chat and Dealer Broadcast - Dealer Broadcast and Player
Chat are separated within the gameplay side panel for improved
readability. Expand your dealer, chat, or stats view by dragging the
corresponding panel to your desired size.
- Pre-populated Bet Buttons - Bet amounts are pre-populated with
common denominations, such as pot and half-pot, for quick and easy
placing.
- Player Statistics - As you play at the tables, statistics are kept on all
of your actions. This allows you to analyze your play in real time or
after your poker session.
- Opponent Notes - To keep track of a player's style when playing in the
Bodog Poker Room you can keep notes on all your opponents.

There is an extensive online help section at Bodog which should be able to
answer all your questions. If you can not find the answer to your question,
you can contact Bodog via email support and they also have a toll free
telephone support number.
