The first event of the 2010 World Series of Poker has conlcuded. This was a $500 Buy-in Casino Employees No Limit Holdem event with a total of 721 entries which created a prize pool worth $324,450.

The winner of Event #1 is Hoai Pham of Mission Viejo, CA. Pham beat Arthur Vea heads-up to take home the $71,424 first place prize and his first WSOP gold bracelet.

2010 WSOP – Event #3 – $1,000 No Limit Holdem Set to Start at Noon

The 2010 World Series of Poker is rolling into it’s third event which is a $1,000 buy-in No Limit Holdem tournament. This event will attract a huge field of players, as will all of the $1K buy-in NLH events, and as of this moment there are over 3,500 players registered for Event #3.

Although it is a lower buy-in event, many of the top poker pros from around the world will be participating in this tournament. Amanda Musumeci of Team Bodog has confirmed on her Twitter account that she has registered for the $1K event as well as Vanessa Rousso among others.

Event #3 of the 2010 WSOP is scheduled to begin at 12:00 Noon Vegas Time.

$50K Player’s Championship – 2010 WSOP Event 2 Update

The first day of the $50,000 buy-in Player’s Championship concluded. A total of 116 players registered for Event #2 of the 2010 WSOP.

Among the noteable names who busted on Day 1 include Tom Dwan, Greg Mueller, and Brian Townsend. The tournament will resume at 3 PM and will be at Level 6. The chip leader at the End of Day 1 is Erik Sagstrom with 329,100 in chips.

Day 1 of Event #1 of the 2010 World Series of Poker, a $500 buy-in Casino Employees No Limit Holdem tournament, has concluded.

2010 WSOP – Event 2 – $50K Player’s Championship Update

The $50,000 buy-in Player’s Championship is underway and some of the biggest names in poker are participating in this event including Greg Raymer, Doyle Brunson, Jeffrey Lisandro and Scotty Nguyen as well as many others.

There are a total of 107 players in this tourney and just before play began tributes began for the late Chip Reese. Doyle Brunson said that Reese was “the best player I’ve ever played with.”

Many of poker’s best players are in this tournament like Daniel Negreanu, Mike Matusow, Freddy Deeb, Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Phil Hellmuth, Jennifer Harman and many other top pros.

The Player’s Championship is currently at Level 2 and we will post updates as they become available.

2010 WSOP Updates: Event #1 – $500 Casino Employees No Limit Holdem

The 2010 World Series of Poker kicked off today with the start of Event #1 which began at noon Las Vegas time. This is a $500 buy-in Casino Employees No Limit Holdem tournament.

Last year’s defending champion Andrew Cohen got crippled while on the small blind when he got rivered by Cary Lucier who hit a straight.

Cohen then got knocked out with his A-K against Kristy Smith’s A-Q when the flop came Q-Q-Q and Cohen was drawing dead.

The first break for Event #1 has ended and the tourney is currently on Level 3 with blinds at 100/200.

Borgata Summer Poker Open 2010 Schedule Announced

BORGATA ANNOUNCES SUMMER POKER OPEN – 46-Event Tournament Running June 11 – 30

Atlantic City, NJ – Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa announced today details of its fifth annual Borgata Summer Poker Open to be held Friday, June 11 through Tuesday, June 30, 2010 in Borgata’s 85-table poker room. The 46-event poker tournament series offers a guaranteed $500,000 prize pool for the $2,200 No Limit Championship Event (June 25 – 29).

The Summer Open will give players a chance to participate in three guaranteed main events including a pair of $50,000 Guaranteed Re-Entry tournaments on Wednesday, June 16 ($170 Buy-In + $30 Entry) and Wednesday, June 23 ($170 Buy-In + $30 Entry), thus giving players that are eliminated within the first three levels of the tournament the opportunity to re-enter up to two additional times.

With 22 main events and a variety of games including Texas Hold’Em No Limit, Survivor Cash, H.O.S.E., Pot Limit Omaha, Ladies-only and Seniors-only tournaments, the Summer Open has a plethora of options for every type of poker participant. In addition, the 20-day event will fill the Borgata Poker Room with cash games, super satellite events and sit-and-go games. The four-day Championship Event includes two starting days (Day 1A on Friday, June 25 and Day 1B on Saturday, June 26) and concludes Tuesday, June 29. Players will start with 30,000 in tournament chips and play in one of the best structured tournaments around.

Last year’s Summer Open series drew over 9,800 entries into the events, paying out over $5 million in winnings.

High Heels Poker Tour (HHPT) is Sending 10 Women to the $1K Ladies Event During the World Series

HIGH HEELS POKER TOUR IS PROUD TO BE SENDING 10 WOMEN TO THE $1K LADIES EVENT AT THE RIO

Ft. Lauderdale (May 27, 2010) – The HighHeelsPokerTour (HHPT), the first all women’s poker tour launched on the East coast, is gearing up for the biggest yearly event in poker at the WSOP. This year HighHeelsPokerTour is sending 10 women to the $1,000 Ladies Event on June 11th @ The Rio. 5 of the women are coming from Jacksonville Kennel Club, 3 from Tampa Bay Downs, 1 from Turning Stone Resort Casino and one still left to be given away. The 2010 World Series of Poker begins on May 28th and the first event is a $500 buy-in Casino Employees No Limit Holdem tournament. This event is scheduled to take place over 2 days.

The first open event at the 2010 WSOP will be Event #2 on May 28th which is the $50,000 buy-in Player’s Championship tournament and will be a 5 day event. This tournament will feature an 8-Game format which will most likely be restricted to top poker pros from around the world due to the huge buy-in amount.

8-Game is played six-handed and features 8 different variations of poker including 2-7 Triple Draw, Limit Holdem, Omaha 8, Razz, Seven Card Stud, Stud 8, No Limit Holdem and Pot-Limit Omaha.

World Team Poker Will Broadcast on Fox Sports Network

WORLD TEAM POKER WILL BROADCAST ON FOX SPORTS NET

World Team Poker and Fox Sports Net reached an agreement for broadcast of the new international competition between world’s top professional players playing for their countries’ national pride, which includes Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth Jr., Johnny Chan, David Chiu, Jeff Lisandro, Tony Guoga, Eli Elezra, Men “The Master” Nguyen, Ben Roberts, Juliano Maesano, George Kapalas and George Theofanopoulos.

World Team Poker is an international poker sports league with some of the best players from around the world acting as team captains for their respective countries. Each team captain handpicks professional players who will represent their national poker team. They play in a series of poker competitions for the distinction of being crowned World Team Poker Champion.

Kicking off the new television series is the $50,000 Inaugural Event, which was held at The Golden Nugget on Wednesday, May 19, 2010. A teaser episode is scheduled to be broadcast on July 14, 2010.* Then, viewers will see the drama unfold over one-hour episodes, broadcast nationally on Sunday nights, beginning September 2010.

Each episode will feature the action as the Team Captains make player substitutions, coach their players and even decide plays while team members are in a live hand. Television audiences will be able to watch a level of team strategy previously unseen in poker as the captains attempt to find perfect matchups and place experts in different games on the felt for their respective specialties. Cameras will be there to capture the excitement as pots are won and lost and personalities collide.

Co-costs Matt Corboy and Kenna James will call the action from beginning to end as 40 of the world’s top poker pros battle it out in the shootout tournament consisting of rounds of Limit Hold’Em, Pot Limit Omaha and No Limit Hold’Em.

Each of five tables will play down until there are just two players left at each table however, even if a team member gets knocked off a table, that player is NOT out of the game!
