Phil Hellmuth beat Juha Helppi heads up to win his record-tying tenth wsop gold bracelet. Hellmuth, from Palo Alto, California joined poker legends Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan in the elite group of poker players who hold 10 gold bracelets.

It was quite obvious that Hellmuth was much more concerned with the bracelet than the money. Just look at what he said to Tournament Director Robert Daily - After winning Event #34 he went over to Daily and whispered in a matter of fact manner "So, how much did I win?" Hellmuth asked.

Hellmuth won a total of $631,863 for his first place finish. Phil would tell you straight out that this tournament was all about the WSOP gold bracelet. After being surpassed by both Johnny Chan and Doyle Brunson at the 2005 WSOP, Hellmuth was quite relieved. "I honestly would have paid a million dollars for this moment", Hellmuth told a cheering crowd.

Chip Counts for the End of Day 2 have been posted for Event #30. This event is a $5,000 buy-in Short Handed No Limit Hold'em tournament. Going to the Final Table, the chip leader is Jonathan Gaskell with a total of 727,000 in chips. In second place is Erick Lindgren with 448,000 in chips.

Some of the players who I would like to mention who finished in the money include:

Vanessa Rousso - Las Vegas, NV - 8th place

Joe Awada - Las Vegas, NV - 14th place

John Juanda - Las Vegas, NV - 17th place

Robert Williamson - Las Vegas, NV - 21st place

Joseph Beevers - London, UK - 30th place

Ted Lawson - Plantation, FL - 32nd place

Vanessa Rousso is a 23 year old law student/poker player who is a member of Team PokerStars. Her online handle at PokerStars is LadyMaverick.  I have not personally seen her play, but from what I have seen from recent results, she is a great player. She has been seen cashing in some big events including a 7th place finish at the 2006 WPT World Championship (on the TV bubble).

Vanessa looks like she is getting even better with more experience. In a short period of time, about one year, Vanessa Rousso has become one of the top-five ranked women poker players. She also became the youngest woman to reach the final table in a WSOP Circuit Event at 22 years old. In addition, she is currently one of the top-twenty female money earners of all time. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to play against this young lady. Just take a look at some of the players she beat out at the 2006 WPT World Championship as well as Event #30 of the 2006 World Series of Poker. It looks like we will be hearing alot more about this up and coming poker player for years to come.
