Tournament Report

The final table commences with the small blind at $400, big blind at $800 and
an ante of $100.  Approximately nineteen minutes remain on the clock.

9th Place:
Action begins very fast at this table; it’s the battle of the blinds.  Kia Mohajeri
in the small blind calls with 4-6 off-suit; Jeff Killian in the big blind checks with
Q-J.  The flop hits both players; two pair for the big blind and a set of 4’s for
the small.  The turn and river offer no changes.  Mohajeri wins the pot; Killian
exits the tournament in 9th place.

Time expires and the blinds increase.  The small blind will be $600, the big
blind $1200 with an ante of $200.

8th Place:
Henry Nguyen declares all-in; Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi re-raises on the
button.  It’s K-Q for Nguyen and pocket Q’s for Mizrachi.  The flop is 4c-Js-3d,
turn 9d and river 2d.  Pocket Q’s take down the pot.  Nguyen finishes the
tournament in 8th place.

The dealer begins to prepare the deck, shuffles and cuts; but the players
have opted to take a short time out to watch the running of the Kentucky
Derby.  The clock is stopped until the race has been completed.

7th Place:
Chance Walker goes all-in for part of the big blind.  He is called by both “The
Grinder” on the button and Tom Lanham in the small blind.  The flop is a
9c-6d-Kd; check/check.  The turn a 3c; once again check/check.  The river a 3d.
Lanham has caught a set of 3’s to win the pot.  Walker checks out in 7th
place.

6th Place:
Mohajeri calls to enter the pot, the button folds, Lanham calls in the small
blind and we see a flop.  The flop is the 5c-Kh-Qc.  Lanham pushes all-in.
The big blind folds to the all-in bet, Mohajeri calls.  It is an As-Js for Lanham
and an Ah-Qh for Mohajeri.  A Jd on the turn and 8h on the river ends the
tournament for Lanham in 6th place.

The blinds increase to $800/$1600 with a $200 ante.

5th Place:
Mohajeri pushes all-in and is called by Felipe Roman.  The cards are turned
up; it’s pocket 10’s for Mohajeri and pocket Q’s for Roman.  The flop helps
neither player.  The turn gives a set of 10’s to Mohajeri.  The river is a brick.
Roman checks out in 5th place.

We play the balance of this lever with no further fatalities.  The pots volley
between players until time expires.  The blinds increase to  $1200/$2400
with a $300 ante.  We have an occasional double-thru and a couple of
chopped pots.  The stacks rise and fall but the majority of chips are at one
end of the table divided between Mohajeri and  “The Grinder”  The blinds
increase once again to $1500/$3000 with a $400 ante.  “The Grinder”gives
chips away to other players as he is snapped off with the best hand several
times.  Nearly four hours later, near the end of this level; 4th place is claimed.

4th Place:
It’s pocket K’s for “The Grinder” all-in, called by Mohajeri in the big blind with
Q-9.  Two pair on the flop for Mohajeri.  The turn and river fail to help
the pocket K’s.  Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi takes down 4th place.

The blinds and antes increase once again to $2000/$4000 with a $500 ante.

3rd Place:
Darryl Fitch has survived several all-in hands by catching the miracle card at
the right times.  In the big blind, he pushes all-in and is called by Rie Kanno
on the button.  It is Ad-Jd for Fitch and Kh-4d for Kanno.  The flop comes
3d-Qh-2c; A high for Fitch.  The turn is a Ac, top pair for Fitch. On the river
another miracle card, this time for Kanno.  A 5d gives Kanno a wheel.
Fitch rolls out in 3rd place.

2nd Place/1st Place:
Kanno on the button/small blind calls Mohajeri in the big blind.  The flop is
10d-7s-Js; bet by Mohajeri, called by Kanno.  An As on the turn, check/check.
With the 9h on the river it’s all-in for Mohajeri, called by Kanno.  Kanno shows
two pair J’s and 9’s but Mohajeri has turned the flush with Qs-3s.  Kanno
takes down 2nd place.  Mohaheri 1st place and the gold WSOP ring.
