Spiderman Spins His Web Across Final Table
Event #15 of the 2006 Legends of Poker was the $1,500 + $80 No Limit Hold’em (2 day) event. A field of 268 players created a substantial prize pool of $4020500 with $150,750 going to the winner. The final table was set on day two at 5pm in the middle of Level 13 with an ante of $500 and blinds $1,000/$2,000.
The first elimination occurred on hand #24 when Michael Woo, with a 3rd place finish in a WPT event earlier this year, pushed all-in preflop and was called by Syed Dadri, a local pro. Woo showed his K-J and Dadri showed his pocket 10s. The board was 2-4-9-Q-A and Dadri’s 10s held up and Michael Woo was eliminated in 10th place earning him $5,025
The next key hand was #56 where Keith Sexton, a two time runner-up in the WSOP 7-card stud events (1990 & 2005), re-raised all-in for his last $27,500 and was called by the initial raiser, Paul Kim. Keith showed A-3 and Paul revealed his 2s-5s. The flop was As-6s-9. Keith hit top pair but Paul has a flush draw. The turn was the Qs and Paul made his flush and Keith is drawing dead. Keith Sexton finished in 9th place and took home $6,030.
It would take only 5 more hands for our next all-in player. Syed Kadri raised preflop and was called by Hoan Ly and Paul Kim. The flop was K-6-6. The turn was a 3 and river 10. Syed bet his last $25,000 on the river and was called by Hoan (Kim folded), who showed his KK for the flopped full house. Syed mucked his cards for an 8th place finish and $8,040.
Hand #74 had Robert Natividad going all-in for his last $9,500. Robert was playing the short stack conservatively awaiting other player’s confrontation so he could move up in the money. He ran out of time and chips to wait this table out any longer. Robert was called by David Daneshgar. Robert showed 10-J and David showed a dominated 3c-10c. The flop was 9c-Qc-7c, David flopped his flush and Robert was drawing dead. Robert was eliminated in 7th place and earned $10,050. Four hands later, Luis Sanchez of La Habra Heights, raised all-in preflop and was called by Paul Kim. Paul revealed his A-10 to Luis’ 9-8. The board was K-2-4-3-4 and Paul’s Ace high was good enough to win the pot and eliminated Luis in 6th place for $14,070.
On hand #103 (yes this is a long final table), Steve Sung raised all-in on the button and “Spiderman” called from the big blind. Steve held Qh-7h and Spidey showed A-6. The flop was 6-6-3. Spiderman flopped trips and Steve got no help on the turn/river with an 8-5. Steve was eliminated in 5th place and cashed in for $18,090.
Hand #124 had David Daneshgar, push all-in preflop for $58,000. David’s fold equity was squelched by Hoan Ly’s call with K-3. David’s tournament life was hanging on his Qc-8c. The board was A-A-4-5-J and Hoan’s King high is good enough for the win. David finished in 4th place earning him $24,120.
Six hands later, playing three-handed, Hoan Ly went all-in after the flop of 7-Ac-Jc. Hoan had K-Q for a straight draw and Paul Kim held A-10 for top pair. The turn and river were 2 and 4. Paul’s top pair took the pot and Hoan Ly finished the tournament in 3rd place and cashed for $36,180.
The heads-up battle oscillated between “chop the prize pool” and “let’s play” and they ultimately decided to play it out. Paul suggested they play “winner- take-all” for the balance ($225K) but Spiderman, who held about 65% of the chips offered an even chop. Neither player was interested in the other’s offer and play resumed. There were several all-in hands leading up to the final hand, number 146.
Paul pushed all-in preflop and got a quick call from Spiderman who easily covered Paul. Paul showed A-Q and Spiderman showed a dominating A-K. The board was 4-4-A-K-3 and the turn King sealed the deal for Spiderman. Paul finished in 2nd place and received $74,370 in cash.
Spiderman is the last player standing and wins $150,750 and a gold ring.

BIOGRAPHY
“Spiderman, no…not Tobey Maguire, a local pro and tournament/satellite specialist, has been playing poker for over 5 years. Introduced to poker by friends, Spiderman found a gambling game where he could use his skill to create an edge. Last year, Spiderman won 10 consecutive Super Satellites at The Bicycle Casino. It’s probably not documented as a record but I’m confident that this has not been done before. He has logged many hours on- line in heads-up matches and is confident of his strong heads-up live play. Spiderman delivered a few timely bad beats but said he has taken his share of them in the past and it’s about time that they just go my way. Today, they went his way and earned him $150K.
